LaMarcus Aldridge scored 30 of his career-high 44 points in the second half, including 15 straight to close the game, as the Portland Trail Blazers rallied for a 110-105 win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night at Moda Center.
Wesley Matthews added 24 points for the Blazers, who overcame a 15-point third-quarter deficit to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season.
Wilson Chandler scored 18 points to lead six Nuggets in double-figures, but it wasn't enough to prevent Denver from losing its third straight. Ty Lawson added 13 points and 11 assists as the Nuggets fell to 20-21 at the season's midway point.
Randy Foye gave Denver its final lead on a driving floater with 61 seconds to play, but Aldridge converted two free throws on Portland's next possession. Aldridge would do the same after missed shots by Lawson, Foye and Chandler in the final 30 seconds.
The Nuggets were hindered by 22 turnovers that led to 28 points for Portland. The Blazers also limited Denver to 38 points in the second half after surrendering 67 by halftime.
Denver returns to action Saturday night against the Indiana Pacers at Pepsi Center.
Big lead disappears in third quarter
The Nuggets led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter and were still up 13 before the Blazers closed with a 10-2 run. Portland then scored the first six points to start the fourth as part of a see-saw finish.
