NUGGETS QUOTES
George Karl - Denver Nuggets Head Coach
“It’s hard to win when you don’t play any defense and when the opponent can’t miss a shot. I thought just the opposite would happen tonight with us coming out fast. We were outworked, outplayed, and out rebounded. It’s tough to win when you allow your opponent to shot 55 percent from the field and let your opponent get 20 points in the paint on offensive rebounds. This is our house and our building and we have let too many teams come in here and do what they did to us tonight."
Kenyon Martin - Denver Nuggets Forward
"A team that can shoot like that, it tends to make for a long night. Our defense was non-existent. Games like this happen, but we’ve had too many. We’ve got to eliminate it. It’s been up and down. No matter what sport you play, its hard to dig yourself a big hole. They got a good welcome (Patterson and Evans), too bad we couldn’t get them a win. We have Detroit on Wednesday, they play together and hard. We’ve got to play as a collective unit, and that starts with me."
Andre Miller - Denver Nuggets Guard
"They were just knocking down shots, and once they got their confidence it was tough. If we play like we did tonight, we’ll lose by 50 (regarding Wednesday’s game against the Pistons). When we’re not playing good defense, we’re not going to get our transition points. You’ve got to find ways to get motivated, it starts in how you practice. We just had no effort, no energy and no defense."
Earl Boykins - Denver Nuggets Guard
"When you give up sixty nine points in the first half it’s hard to win anything. We didn’t lose this game because of the trade, we lost this game because we played bad basketball."
BUCKS QUOTES
Terry Stotts - Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach
"It was a great effort by everyone. Everyone played well. Our first half was a thing of beauty. They only had one fast breakpoint. We passed well, got the big guys involved. I was proud of the way we played. On the road you want to play well. Every win is big, it feels good to get back on track. Charlie Bell did a terrific job. He did a good job guarding Carmelo. Passing was going to be the big key- how well we moved the ball. The first half tonight was complete opposite of the first half when we played Denver in Milwaukee. This win was important for the Milwaukee Bucks."
T. J. Ford - Milwaukee Bucks Guard
"We definitely played well together and went out and had some fun. Everybody was involved in the game and we were all looking out for each other. We get ready, come out and play every night. We get paid for this and that’s what we did tonight. When we played them in Milwaukee, we let them get out to a fast start and we gave up a lot of fast break points so tonight was to establish stopping the fast breaks. Our goal was to shut down that fast break and make them play half court and that’s what we did tonight."
Charlie Bell - Milwaukee Bucks Guard
"We haven’t done very well against the West Coast teams. We’ve lost some pretty close games lately and then to come on the road and get a win against Atlanta on a back to back game was pretty big for us and then to come here to Denver in the mile high city and get a win and then to kind of run them out of their own gym and now we’ve got Phoenix on our schedule. This is a tough road trip. We are going to have to be ready for Phoenix because they can run us out of the gym because Steve Nash and Shawn Marion but right now we’ve got a lot of confidence and we are going to go in there upbeat and ready to play."
