Iverson Named Western Conference Player of the Week
Nuggets guard led Denver to a perfect 3-0 week

DENVER, Nov. 19 -- Nuggets guard Allen Iverson was named NBA Player of the Week for the Western Conference for games played from Monday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 18 the NBA announced today.

Iverson led the Nuggets to a 3-0 record, averaging 26.7 ppg on .558 (29-52) shooting from the field. He also dished out 6.3 apg to go along with 2.0 rpg and 1.00 spg.

This marks the 21st time in Iverson's career that he has garnered this honor, while it is his first in the Western Conference and first as a Denver Nugget. According to an unofficial all-time awards list from the NBA, only Michael Jordan (25) and Karl Malone (23) have more Player of the Week honors to their credit.

Iverson becomes the 13th different Nuggets player to have won the award and the first since Carmelo Anthony was named Player of the Week on 2/12/07 last season.

“It’s always an honor to win Player of the Week,” said Iverson. “Without my teammates it wouldn’t have been possible, so a lot of the credit goes to them. But the truth is, I’m just happy we’re playing well right now.”
