NUGGETS QUOTES
George Karl - Denver Nuggets Head Coach
"I was happy we had a lot of guys playing well, though the defense was weird. I don’t think we can be ultra-successful if we don’t play better defensively. I think J.R. is giving us a big lift, hitting that shot on the perimeter. Forty-two assists was probably my happiest thing. Anytime we pass the ball it should be a good night. We have a team that if we are going to run and pass the ball, J.R. and Melo are going to get their points."
J.R. Smith - Nuggets Guard
"We definitely wanted to speed the game up. It was definitely a fun game. Every rebound you get, we were getting it out in transition. We were going long, looking for open people. Not really (much defense) when the final score is 140-129. It feels good to get the chance to relax and play your game (in the fourth quarter). We just tried to get out there and play a lot better (defense). As hard as he wants to play on defense, he wants us to play to just as hard on offense."
Carmelo Anthony - Nuggets Forward
"It was a good win, anytime you can win at home. As you can see we put up a lot of points, they put up a lot of points too and that’s something we’ve got to get better at. You can’t get mad at the win. We almost had 150 points, that’s impressive. I’ve never done that before. J.R. Smith caught fire in the second half, and he came to me and said he was feeling it. He hit his first three in the fourth quarter and I said ‘let’s roll with it.’ He’s got a lot of confidence right now and he’s helping us out offensively. We have to keep that going for the whole season."
WARRIORS QUOTES
Don Nelson - Golden State Warriors Head Coach
"The turnovers let us down. We had 24 turnovers and they got forty points in the open court off our turnovers. You’re not going to win on the road doing that. And most of them were self-inflicted. He (Carmelo) had about ten points in the open court. I thought we did a pretty good job defending him, but those dunks were ten points right there. We had trouble guarding him anyways, that’s why we went to the zone.
"The positives are, we’ve got a heck of a young center (Biedrins). He’s pretty special, all he does is play. He Makes simple decisions and I wish I had nine of them like that. He might be the best center I ever coached. I had Bob Lanier late in his career when his was on a bout a leg and a half, and he was the greatest center. But he’s the best I’ve ever coached other than Lanier. A lot to say for a young kid, but this kid is special.”
Jason Richardson - Warriors Guard
"We didn’t follow our game plan, you can’t let guys come out and score 140 points. That’s just absurd. It’s depressing. Right now we aren’t running the ball. We’re getting away from what made us successful. We’ve got to get back to what made us successful, running the ball.”
Andris Biedrins - Warriors Center
"I had a really good day. My teammates were giving me the ball. I think I can be much better. I’m just starting to get confidence and the coach is trusting me more. This game we just played really bad defense. We can’t let a team score seventy points in a half.”
