‘Tis the season for gift giving.
And the word ‘round the Nuggets’ Locker Room is that Kenyon Martin gave all of his teammates I-Pods.
Carmelo Anthony did not accept the gift too graciously. “K-Mart stole my idea. He gave everybody an I-Pod. So I’m not getting nobody nothing!”
Carmelo has proven to be a generous gift giver. After the 2003-2004 Denver Nuggets made the playoffs, Anthony gave each of his teammates watches, “it was just a little baby Rolex.”
Earl Boykins still has his watch. “It’s a souvenir. I don’t wear jewelry…so it’s in the box just in case MTV Cribs comes to my house.”
Greg Buckner was quite pleased with Kenyon’s generosity. “An I-Pod is not a bad gift at all.” Times have changed for Greg, “I never got presents. I grew up poor.”
First year Nugget, Linas Kleiza, is easy to please, “Every gift is a good gift.” However, Kleiza does not plan to give anything to his teammates. His explanation: “I’m a rookie.”

Much like Kleiza, most will agree that every gift is a good gift. Which is the main reason why a number of the Nuggets players have taken their generosity out into the Denver community during this holiday season.
On Dec. 19, Earl Watson hosted a Christmas party at the Warwick Hotel for three families displaced by Hurricane Katrina that he had adopted through Rocky Mountain Relief. Watson provided the families with everything that was on their Christmas wish lists. "Whatever they wanted, I got it. Whatever they asked for, I got it." With the help of Magic Johnson, who also provided gifts for the families, Watson was able to brighten this holiday season for a few families who had been through quite a bit this year. On Dec. 20, Greg Buckner held a holiday party for 75 kids at the Denver Children’s Home, a residential facility for abused and neglected children. The event included a pizza party, gift distribution and fun activity stations in which Buckner and teammates Earl Boykins and Andre Miller took part in. Buckner and his foundation, the Greg Buckner Foundation, gave out gift bags to all the children and then raffled off large prizes such as televisions and stereo systems to a number of lucky winners.
On Dec. 22, Marcus Camby participated in his 3rd Annual Cambyland Christmas at Foley's in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. Camby took 15 underserved children from the Glenarm Recreation Center in Denver on shopping sprees in which they each received $100 to purchase holiday presents for their family members. In an effort to empower the children with the spirit of giving, the children were kindly asked to not buy anything for themselves. After the children were done shopping for others, Camby surprised each of them with presents of their own as a holiday reward for their kindness. In this season of giving, the players, coaches and staff of the Denver Nuggets would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holidays.
