After re-signing with Denver, Wilson Chandler wrote a letter to Nuggets Nation on his Instagram:
Following Wil's post, Nuggets fans were invited to write a letter back to Wil on Facebook and Nuggets.com, and he received a barrage of support. Here are some of the letters Wil received:
Wilson, I am glad to hear that you will remain a Nugget!!! As a Denver native and DePaul University alum I have been a fan of yours for a long time. Your hard work and lead-by-example attitude are going to be essential to the team's success and I can't wait to see the great things you will do on and off the court throughout this extended contract. Congratulations on the new deal and, more importantly, finding happiness in a business that can often take it away from you. - Zack C.
Wilson, It goes without saying that what you have done is give what The Nuggets family has needed in a long time, a true professional. Someone that realises that its not always about the money, the endorsements, or just moving from team to team trying to win. I respect you so much for your decision to stay in Denver and help rebuild my team. Yes we are at the bottom, but with your help, leadership and support of the Nuggets there is hope. As an Athletic Trainer trying to work in the NBA, it is nice to know there are still true professionals out there. - Tyler Lesher
Wilson, you are a world class NBA player with the way you conduct yourself on and off the court. There are not many NBA players that are of your caliber and you are a big reason I like to watch the nuggets. I hope that you have a successful career here in Colorado. Stay healthy and go nuggets. - Daniel Alvaran
Mr. Wilson Chandler, You are a great asset to the Denver Nuggets. You are a great role model for kids and your great dedication to the team is one of the reason why I love you as a player. Keeping doing what you're doing cause you are great player and the team will go far with you. Look forward to every home. GO NUGGETS!!! - April Jones
Wilson, you are a rare find in this day and age of sports. To show you care about loyalty more than the pursuit of financial gain speaks volumes of your character. You recognize how blessed you are with the talent to player in the NBA and that they are so many less fortunate, you realize the need to be respectful of that and not seek extravagance. Your drive to help this team win has a greater value to you. I am proud to have you on the team I have rooted for since 1976! - Ken Grant
Wow! This beautiful statement made me tear up a bit. I can't thank you enough for having your faith, trust, and loyalty to the city of Denver and the colorful state of Colorado! Commitment and patience is needed but I have no doubt that this organization can make a deep run into the playoffs! Denver has proven to be loyal fans and with hard work, the nuggets can easily reach the same praise as it does with the Denver Broncos. Congratulations and remain optimistic as all things comes with time. - David Romero
Wilson, Ever since you got traded to the Denver Nuggets back in 2011, I became a huge fan. The last two season, haven't gone as planned but that never stopped your from working hard and improving on your game. One of reasons why you're one of my favorite players in the NBA is that you're are willing to stick around in Denver through the hard times, while battling through some injuries and being able to commit to turn things around in the upcoming season. The other reason for being a fan is the humility you have shown in your years in NY and Denver. The way you act on and off the court(such as helping out in Senegal) has made it easy to say that you are on of my most favorite players. I wish you good luck in summer training, and getting ready for next season. - Jacob Urys
Thank you, Nuggets Nation!
