Coach takes position with University of Arizona

DENVER, May 15 -- Denver Nuggets Assistant Coach Mike Dunlap resigned today to accept the associate head coach position at the University of Arizona.

“Mike has been an invaluable resource to my staff,” said Nuggets Head Coach George Karl. “Coach Olson is getting one of the top minds in basketball and we’ll miss him greatly. We wish him the best of luck at Arizona, where we know he will be very successful.”

Dunlap joined the Nuggets as an assistant coach prior to the 2006-07 campaign. In his two seasons with the Nuggets, the team posted a 95-69 (.579) record.

Before joining the Nuggets, Dunlap served as the head coach at Metro State College of Denver for nine seasons, compiling a 248-50 (.832) record and capturing two NCAA Division II national titles (2000; 2002).

“I want to thank Coach Karl and the Nuggets organization for giving me an opportunity to coach at the highest level,” said Dunlap. “I learned a great deal in my two years with the Nuggets and I’m grateful for the experience.”
