Denver Nuggets Acquire Randy Foye In Three-Team Trade
Veteran shooting guard set single-season franchise 3-point record in Utah last season
DENVER, July 10, 2013 – The Denver Nuggets have acquired G Randy Foye from the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team sign-and-trade deal that also includes the Golden State Warriors, Nuggets general manager/executive vice president of basketball operations Tim Connelly announced today.
In addition to Foye, Denver received a future second-round pick from the Warriors in a sign-and-trade agreement for G/F Andre Iguodala, while Utah received a future second-round pick from the Nuggets.
The Warriors received G Kevin Murphy from Utah and sent C Andris Biedrins, F Richard Jefferson and G/F Brandon Rush to the Jazz, along with two future first-round picks, three future second-round picks and cash considerations.
Foye, 6-4, 220, averaged 10.8 points and 2.0 assists while making a franchise-record 178 3-pointers for the Jazz last season. He was one of only five NBA players to shoot better than .400 from 3-point range while taking at least 400 attempts.
“Randy is one of the most dangerous 3-point shooters in the game today,” Connelly said. “He addresses a major need for us on the perimeter, and he will also provide great veteran leadership for our young players.”
Drafted seventh overall by Minnesota in 2006, Foye has averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.2 rebounds in seven NBA seasons with the Timberwolves, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers and Utah.
Foye has made at least 100 3-pointers three times in his career and is a career .377 shooter from long range. He also is one of the league’s most accurate free-throw shooters, converting 85.6 percent of his foul shots.
