Postgame Quotes -- Dec. 2, 2005
NUGGETS QUOTES
Nuggets Acting Head Coach Scott Brooks
“It was an incredible effort. Marcus was incredible with what he did. There’s not a better big man in this league right now. Everyone played well; Carmelo, Andre, Kenyon, everybody. We have our bruises right now, but it was a great effort.”
Nuggets Center Marcus Camby (33 points, 20 rebounds)
“We’re playing hard. You know, down 17 at halftime, we hunkered down together and tried to regain the lead going into the fourth quarter. Going down the stretch… I don’t want to get fined. You know what I’m talking about, but… They made big plays going down the stretch, they made more big plays then we did and we just have to regroup and get ready to play tomorrow.”
Nuggets Forward Carmelo Anthony (22 points)
“In the second half, we fought back, and we took the lead by two. Eddie House came in and made a couple of big shots. Shawn Marion had that big offensive rebound in the third quarter and they kicked it out and he got a big three out of that. Overall, we fought and you can’t complain about the effort we put in.”
SUNS QUOTES
Suns Head Coach Mike D’Antoni
“We had a really solid first half, it was really great. A lot of guys contributed. We had a solid twenty-four minutes. For whatever reason we lost a little bit of concentration in the third quarter and the other team picked it up. We went through a cold stretch and Eddie House kept coming in with his third save of the year. He has three saves out of nine wins. Defensively, in the first half we played really well. We were a little disinterested in the fourth quarter and we almost paid for it.”
“We have to put teams away and we are starting to go through a tough stretch of games and any time we can rest we need to do that. We started the second off the second half a little lazy and [Marcus] Camby had a heck of a game and some times you would love to shut them down and you just can’t do it.”
Suns Forward Shawn Marion (22 points, 11 rebounds)
“We allowed them to make a run at us, and we didn’t stay focused on how we were playing in the first half. We just got on our heels a little bit and we seemed to be going through the motions out there. To fight and come back after losing the lead says a lot about this team. We’ve been working a lot on our man-to-man defense, which is starting to improve. We just need to keep playing together and give a good team effort every night. We’re starting to show signs of greatness out there. We need to just keep moving forward in each game.”
Suns Forward Kurt Thomas (16 points, 16 rebounds)
“I’m just coming in and trying to do my job. I’m trying to get out of the slump I was in at the beginning of the season. I think I’ve now had three good games in a row, and I just want to keep that string going. Tonight shows that even if we have a bad quarter, we’re going to keep our heads and not get down on each other. We’ll continue to keep playing and keep fighting, and I think we showed that tonight in the fourth quarter. We thought we played a great first half, and came out confident in the second. We struggled in the third quarter and coach let us know we can’t bring it down a notch, but rather pick it up a notch. I think that just shows the character of this team”
Suns Guard Eddie House (12 points, 3 assists)
“I’m going to keep shooting the ball, because that’s one thing that coach stresses with everybody. When you get an open look, take the shot. I was getting the same looks in the second half as I was the first. They just started falling in the second half. There was a crucial time in the fourth quarter, and I think the play that turned things around was the three-point play by Kurt (Thomas). We took a lot of momentum from our run and ended up going up by ten. I think that really showed the resiliency of this team.”
