Anthony Ranks Eighth in NBA Jersey Sales

NEW YORK, Dec. 15 – Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is eighth on the NBA's most popular jersey list for the 2005-06 season. Anthony trails only Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, who moved up eight spots to top this year's list replacing teammate Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami's O'Neal and Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets.

The rankings are based on sales at the world’s only NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City and NBAStore.com since the start of the 2005-06 NBA preseason.

The Miami Heat moved up three spots to No. 1 on the league’s list of most popular team merchandise, surpassing the Los Angeles Lakers, who led the league in team sales the three previous years. Reebok is the official on-court apparel provider for the NBA.

Fans can watch five of the top 11 players compete in this year’s Christmas Day doubleheader on ABC including: Wade, Bryant, O’Neal, San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan and Detroit Pistons’ Ben Wallace. The San Antonio Spurs will take on the Detroit Pistons at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time followed by the Los Angeles Lakers visiting the Miami Heat at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
