Anthony Named to All-NBA Third Team
HE BECOMES FIRST NUGGET SINCE 1998-99 TO BE HONORED

NEW YORK, May 17 -- Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony was named to the NBA’s All-NBA Third Team, the league announced today. It marks the first time Anthony has received the honor in his three-year career and he is the first Nugget to garner the honor since Antonio McDyess was selected to the Third Team for the 1998-99 season.

Anthony ranked eighth in the NBA in scoring with a career-high 26.5 ppg, the highest finish by a Nugget since Michael Adams ranked sixth in 1990-91 (26.5). His scoring average increased by 5.7 ppg over last season. He scored at least 30 points in 28 games this season, which were the most 30 point games in a season since 1988-89 when Alex English did it 29 times. His four 40-point efforts are the most by a Nugget since 1990-91 when Michael Adams did it six times. He also shot a career-high .481 from the field and a career-high .808 from the free-throw line.

Anthony was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for March after averaging 29.9 ppg on .549 (189-344) shooting, the first time he had received the award in his career and the first Nugget since Fat Lever got the recognition in April of 1988.

One of the most clutch players in the NBA, Anthony made five game-winning shots in the final five seconds of games for the Nuggets this season.

In addition to Anthony, Nuggets center Marcus Camby also received nine votes.

The 126-member voting panel of writers and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada consisted of national media members and members from each of the league’s 30 teams who regularly cover the NBA. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.
