Thursday:
In addition to all the skill work, measurements and testing sections, two scrimmages took place each day at the 2015 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. In the first Thursday scrimmage, Team2 topped Team1 by the score of 80-77. Four players scored in double digits for Team2 – Terry Rozier (Louisville, 13 points), Terran Petteway (Nebraska, 12 points), Mouhammadou Jaiteh (France, 12 points), and Dez Wells (Maryland, 11 points). Jaiteh also pulled down 10 rebounds to tally a double-double in nearly 28 minutes of playing time.
The game’s leading scorer, Rakeem Christmas (Syracuse, 20 points), played for Team1. Christmas shot 70% from the field and 66.67% from the stripe while also pulling down six rebounds in his 29 minutes of game action. J.P. Tokoto (North Carolina, 13 points), Ryan Boatright (UCONN, 12 points), and Anthony Brown (Stanford, 12 points) also scored in double figures.
The second scrimmage was nearly as close as the first, as Team3 outscored Team4, 82-77. Michael Frazier II and Jordan Mickey led Team3 with 17 points apiece. Vince Hunter (UTEP) and Alan Williams (UCSB) each notched a double-double for Team4 in a losing effort.
Friday:
The scrimmages on Day 2 were nearly as close as the two on Day 1. In the first game, Team2 beat Team3 by the score of 93-89. Pat Connaughton (Notre Dame) hit four-of-five three pointers en route to 18 points, a point total matched by Quinn Cook (Duke) for Team2. Branden Dawson (Michigan State) had a team-high 17 points for Team3 in a losing effort. Jordan Mickey (LSU) and Richaun Holmes (Bowling Green) each had a game-high-tying four blocked shots, and Marcus Thornton (William & Mary) dished out a team-high five assists.
In the final scrimmage of the combine, Rakeem Christmas (19 points) led Team1 to an 80-74 win over Team4. Three other players – Brandon Ashley (Arizona), Ryan Boatright (UCONN) and J.P. Tokoto (North Carolina) – also scored in double figures in the game. Vince Hunter (Texas) scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the loss. Andrew Harrison (Kentucky) also had a game-high seven assists.
