Nuggets partner with United Way Colorado for TeamSmile

A trip to the dentist doesn't typically generate this many smiles.

That's what happens when players, coaches, mascots and cheerleaders from Denver's six professional sports teams work with United Way Colorado to provide dental care to underserved children.

About 240 children received dental care worth an estimated $110,000 during the TeamSmile event at Pepsi Center on Saturday.

It marked the first time the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids and Colorado Mammoth teamed up for a community project.

More than 160 metro-area dental professionals donated their time and expertise during the event, which also promoted the importance of good dental hygiene.

Representing the Nuggets were community ambassadors Walter Davis and Ervin Johnson, SuperMascot Rocky and members of the Denver Nuggets Dancers.
