Introductions in order for Denver Nuggets coach Brian Shaw
Pepsi Center tour allows new coach to meet building employees
When LaPhonso Ellis played for the Denver Nuggets, he took pride in getting to know the people who worked behind the scenes at McNichols Sports Arena.
Nuggets coach Brian Shaw shares that one-for-all, all-for-one philosophy at Pepsi Center.
Before the team headed to Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League, Shaw took a tour of the building, visiting several departments and shaking hands with as many people as possible.
Shaw, named Denver’s coach on June 25, introduced himself with each handshake and swapped stories with employees in the conversion department, the box office, the team store, engineering, marketing, ticket sales, IT and various points in between.
“I really respect what you guys do,” Shaw told the workers in charge of converting the Pepsi Center floor from hockey and basketball to lacrosse and concerts. “Hats off to all you guys.”
His message was similar in other parts of the building. Shaw thanked the employees for their role in helping the team and told them the Nuggets would do their part to make them proud.
“I just wanted to meet everybody and start putting names and faces together and see what everybody’s doing around here,” he said. “We’re all going to be working together.”
