Kenneth Faried For 2011-12 NBA Rookie Of The Year
Kenneth Faried has made 2012 the Year of the Manimal.
After patiently waiting for an opportunity to make an impact with the Denver Nuggets, the rookie forward blossomed as a starter for a team charging toward its ninth consecutive playoff berth.
Faried, nicknamed “The Manimal,” played in just six of Denver’s first 26 games but was called upon after injuries to big men Danilo Gallinari, Kosta Koufos, Timofey Mozgov and Nene.
Through games of April 19, Faried ranked first among NBA rookies in rebounds per game (7.4), field-goal percentage (.579) and PER (21.89). He was also second in double-doubles (9), third in blocks per game (1.02) and eighth in scoring (9.9).
It is a resume worthy of consideration for 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie First Team.
“It doesn’t happen very often that (rookies) play a big-time part of the (winning) personality,” Nuggets coach George Karl said. “I hope that Kenneth gets some glory and some love and some appreciation. I think he has earned it and deserves it.”
