On the eve of the deadline to withdraw his name for the 2012 NBA Draft, 19-year-old Evan Fournier had no doubt what he wanted to do.

“My agent called me and said, ‘Ok, do you want to go? Are you sure?’ ” Fournier recalled. “I said, ‘Yeah, let’s go.’ ”

Projected as a late first-round selection, Fournier was taken 20th overall by the Nuggets.

“Everybody was surprised I got drafted (by Denver), but I wasn’t.” he said. “I had a great workout.”

Fournier attended the draft in Newark, N.J., and he was able to celebrate his big moment with his mom, dad, girlfriend and maternal grandmother.

“Seems like yesterday,” he said. “When I heard my name, my mom cried, my girlfriend cried. My dad was very emotional. Those kinds of things make you happy. I wasn’t nervous or anything like that. I was just excited. I knew I was going to get drafted. I didn’t know where, but I knew it would be somewhere.”
