DND Spotlight: Kristin

Kristin is ecstatic to be in her rookie season with the Denver Nuggets Dancers (DND).

“I love everything there is to do with being a Nuggets Dancer!” she exclaims. “I am so thankful I am able to do something that I love almost every day and be able to share my passion with others. Games are always a blast! I am able to interact with the fans and see their excitement for the Nuggets and the Nuggets Dancers. Community service has always been a big part of my life, so being able to continue that though the Nuggets is absolutely amazing. I am truly blessed to be a part of the Nuggets organization!”

She has been competing since a very young age and brings her determination and high-energy spirit to the DND.

“I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I started competitive dancing at 5 when I did a tap solo and sang Baby Take A Bow," she recalls. “I also did competitive dancing until I graduated high school.”

Kristin loves to dance, no matter the style. She is trained in many genres including; tap, lyrical, hip hop, acro, poms and musical theater. Practice makes perfect, but its all about performing for this one.

She is a dynamic dancer, and enjoys showcasing her diverse set of skills at Nuggets Home Games in Denver. But despite her love for large metropolitan cities, many might be surprised to learn Kristin is originally from a small farming town near Colorado Springs.

Her family owns and operates their family farm, so growing up she lent a hand on the farm when she could, but her passion for dance was loudly calling.

“I am from Ellicott, CO,” said Kristin. “Most people don't realize that I grew up in an extremely tiny, rural town (my whole high school only had 250 kids). I seem like such a city girl and enjoy the city, but love where I came from and being in the country. Growing up so far away from a dance studio, most of my time was spent in school, driving to dance or dancing, so I was unable to work on the farm. However, growing up I would always go with my dad to check on the cows or ride in the tractors whenever he was farming.”

Kristin was truly born and raised to be a hard worker. She carried that mentality into completing her college education when she attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Apparel Merchandising and a Business Minor.

It was not easy for this DND to practice her craft living far from studios and attending school simultaneously, but her dedication and perseverance have led her to one of her proudest accomplishments as a dancer.

“Making the team has been my favorite memory,” says Kristin. “I worked extremely hard and had many ups and downs in the process, but it was all worth it to make the DND. Hearing my number called out at the final audition was something that I will never forget.”
