DND Spotlight: Alicia

True to her astrological sign, this Aries is a fearless go-getter. She has a delicate sneeze accompanied by an alpha-female demeanor, earning her the nickname “The Pitbull Mouse.”

Alicia is a tough competitor with many accomplishments to show for it. She has danced for two other professional sports teams, bringing her refined experience and polished skills to the Denver Nuggets Dancers (DND).

“I received the team fitness award while cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs," said Alicia. "I was an All-American Cheerleader and Dancer in high school, and I've cheered for three professional teams including the AFL, NFL and now the NBA.”

Originally from Marshall, Missouri, Alicia has been dancing since she was 7 years old. Life moved Alicia to Kansas City for 10 years and then she made her way West, settling in Colorado in 2014 for her first year on the Nuggets Dancers.

“I moved here to pursue my dream of dancing for the NBA and for the job opportunity with my full-time job outside of dancing for the Nuggets," Alicia recalled. "I chose Colorado because I fell in love with this beautiful state while visiting.”

Her impressive list of skills not only includes mastering choreographed footwork, but she also harbors an adept computer networking background. Alicia landed a job the week she graduated college and has been employed as a Network Analyst Technician at the same company for the past eight years.

Although Alicia’s schedule keeps her extremely busy, she still finds time to enjoy the Colorado sunshine by hiking, participating in water sports, attending sporting events and spending quality time with her dog, Gizzy, and her cat, Taz.

With just about two years as a Denver Nuggets Dancer under her belt, her favorite memory thus far was representing the team in a different country.

Although Alicia has made a name for herself both on and off her dancing feet, she still tries to be the embodiment of her favorite quote from Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
