Dancer Finalist Q&A: Didi

How long have you been dancing?

I have been dancing for the Denver Nuggets for three years, but dancing in total probably about five years, but I was always a cheerleader before so I’ve been performing for about 13 years.

Why did you want to be on the Denver Nuggets Dancers?

I originally wanted to be on the Denver Nuggets Dance Team because I went to a game and I loved the energy from the game and the rush of the fans and I performing for incredible fans. When I was at the game, I was watching the girls and just wanted to be down there on the court so bad. I had to try three years before I finally made it, but once I made it, it was the best feeling ever to rush out on the court.

Do you remember your first game?

My first game obviously was preseason and I remember the first time we ran out onto the court and Amy Jo looked back at us and we were all waiting in the vom and she was like, “Go, go, go! You’re on!” and the veterans started running out there and it was just such a rush, and I’ll never forget that.

What do you think you bring to the Dancers?

I think I bring kind of a zany energy to the group. I’m kind of the science nerd of the group, and kind of sarcastic compared to the other girls. So whenever there’s kind of a hectic practice and we’re frustrated with each other and it’s halfway through the season in January with four games in one week, I’ll throw in a little sarcastic comment and people will kind of giggle. I’ll be the comedic relief every once in a while. I think that keeps us all sane in the middle of the season.

What’s your favorite dance style?

My favorite dance style is hip-hop.

What’s your favorite part of being on the team?

My favorite part of being on the team is being a part of a group of women that all share a common passion and a common goal, and working together as a group to accomplish that goal.

What is something interesting nobody knows about you?

Something interesting that no one knows about me is that my favorite animal is an octopus.
