Dancer Finalist Q&A: Kristin

How long have you been dancing for?

I have been dancing since I was three, so over 17 years now.

Why do you want to be a Denver Nuggets Dancer?

There’s so many reasons! I absolutely love to perform and I just wanted to get dance involved. I also love doing community service so that’s a big part of why I’m trying out as well.

What community service do you like to do?

I currently work with the Make a Wish Foundation. I’ve been doing that since I was five. I’m also involved in the Miss America organization, so we work with the Children’s Miracle Network and we’re also mentors for little girls.

How would you use being a Nuggets Dancer as a platform for your community service?

I think it would help because you’re getting involved in the community and you’re getting to know the fans. Making appearances at the Children’s Miracle Network – that’s just right up my alley, and I want to expand on that and do different things.

How do you think tryouts are going so far?

I love them so far. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a lot of work, and I’m really sweaty, but hopefully it pays off.

What’s your favorite style of dance?

Definitely lyrical. I love to perform and just tell a story. I know that the Nuggets Dancers don’t do lyrical, but that’s okay because I can still do it when I’m teaching dance or dancing on my own.

What’s something nobody knows about you?

I grew up on a farm. It’s in Ellicott, about 30 minutes east of Colorado Springs. We have over 4,000 acres, and we just grow grass and we have cows, and it’s been a lot of fun growing up there in the middle of nowhere.
