Dancer Finalist Q&A: Alicia
How long have you been dancing for?
I’ve been dancing since I was in the 4th grade, so for about 15 years.
Why do you want to be a Denver Nuggets Dancer?
Obviously being a dancer, NBA and professional dance teams have always been on my mind. Denver is close to home – I’m originally from Kansas City – and so I’ve always had my eye on the Nuggets. It’s always been my dream to dance with the Nuggets.
How do you think the auditions have gone so far?
So far, it’s been an intimidating process. There’s a lot of really beautiful women here. The choreography is a lot of fun and it’s just fun to get out there and show the judges what you’ve got.
What’s your favorite style of dance?
Probably a sassy jazz.
You previously danced for the Kansas City Chiefs. How was that?
It was a great experience. I love the NFL; I was born and raised a football girl so, of course, I would call it cheering for the Chiefs since we were more of cheerleader-style, and that’s kind of what brought me here to the Nuggets.
What do you think is different between NFL and NBA dance?
I expect a world of a difference. Obviously a lot of the same standards are held for the dance organizations, but just the crowd and the NBA atmosphere. I’ve come out to a Nuggets game before, just the crowd and the atmosphere was really exciting.
What do you think you could bring to the Nuggets Dancers?
A lot of heart. I have heart for dancing and what I do, but I have a big huge heart for sports, and I have no doubt you’d see a lot of passion out of me.
