Nuggets Host Fifth Annual Special Olympics Clinic
Over 100 Special Olympic athletes attend basketball clinic at the Pepsi Center

DENVER, Feb. 20 – The entire team and coaching staff of the Denver Nuggets joined Special Olympics Colorado on Wednesday, February 20th to host an extraordinary basketball clinic for 125 Special Olympics athletes. The clinic, generously sponsored by Comfort Dental, took place on the Nuggets main court at Pepsi Center and featured a four-station coaching rotation on fundamental basketball skills.

The clinic, in its fifth year, is a heartwarming annual event the team looks forward to each season. As always, this year's event provided Special Olympics athletes with coaching assistance through rotation stations including skills development in shooting, rebounding, defense, passing and dribbling. Each athlete personally had the opportunity to interact with each Nuggets player and coach and received a commemorative t-shirt. The athletes also received complimentary ticket to the upcoming Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors game on Friday, March 14th.

The athletes at this year's event ranged in age from 8 to 70 years old and traveled from cities across Colorado to participate in the event.

Special Olympics Colorado provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, eight years of age and older, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, and other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
