From Oct. 31 to April 18, the 30 NBA teams will play 1230 games in 169 days. (Well, actually, it's 165 dates as the schedule bears no games on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, the Friday before All-Star and the Monday after.)
How do we squeeze a team's 82 games into 165 dates? There's nothing like it in sports. Football players never play more than two times a week. Baseball has games nearly every day, but even we could stand out in the sun all day and then run the base paths four times a game, seven days a week.
It's different in the NBA. We go 94 feet for 48 minutes, broken into 24-second segments, every other day. When we crown a champion in late June, it not only symbolizes that team's considerable hoops skills, but it's also a testament to that team's physical and mental toughness.
To illustrate our players' toughness, we've looked at each team's longest homestand and longest road trip. We've also taken a look at where it all beings: Opening Night. Check out when and where your team opens the season. Who knows? It could be your team's first step to hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy in June.
