NEW YORK, April 11 –
New Jersey’s Vince Carter
and Golden State’s Baron Davis
today were named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, April 4 through Sunday, April 10.
Carter led the Nets to a 3-0 week with 34.7 points (up 10.8 points from season average) on 54.5 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals. On April 9, in a 99-86 home win over Boston, Carter scored a season-high 45 points and tied his season-high and a Nets franchise record with seven three-pointers in one game.
Davis led the Warriors to a 3-1 week, averaging 28.8 points on 39.1 percent shooting, 12.0 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals. In an April 5, 122-117 win over Houston, Davis scored a career-high 40 points and also recorded 13 rebounds, the first time since 1997 a Warrior had a 40 point and 10 assist game. Since joining the team on February 24, the Warriors are 15-7 and 11-3 in Davis’ starts.

Vince Carter, New Jersey Nets
April 5 at Cleveland: Scored 27 points and had eight assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block in a 111-80 win over the Cavaliers.
April 7 vs. New York: Had 32 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in a 110-98 win over the Knicks.
April 9 vs. Boston: Recorded a season-high 45 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and one block in a 99-86 victory over the Celtics.
Baron Davis, Golden State Warriors
April 5 vs. Houston: Scored a career-high 40 points, with 13 assists, a season-high five steals and five rebounds in a 122-117 win over the visiting Rockets.
April 6 at Portland: Recorded 22 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 104-102 victory over the Trail Blazers.
April 8 vs. Phoenix: Had 15 points, 15 assists and nine rebounds in a 127-119 win over the Suns.
April 10 vs. San Antonio: Scored 38 points, while adding nine assists, six rebounds and a season-high two blocks in 50 minutes of play in a 134-136 double overtime loss to the Spurs.
