ATLANTA, Feb. 3 -- Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant today were named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, January 27 through Sunday, February 2.

Billups averaged 22.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists as the Pistons finished the week with a 3-0 record.

Bryant 40.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in leading the Lakers to a 3-0 record.

Jan. 28 vs. Boston -- Had 16 points, five assists and four rebounds in an 86-83 win over the visiting Celtics. Jan 29 at Phoenix -- Had 40 points, five rebounds, four assists in a 99-90 win over the Suns.
Jan. 31 at Boston -- Recorded 24 points, five rebounds and three assists as the Pistons defeated the Celtics 118-66. Jan. 31 at Sacramento -- Tallied 38 points, five rebounds, five assists and a block in a 124-114 win over the Kings at ARCO Arena.
Feb. 1 vs. New Jersey -- Had 27 points, six rebounds and two assists in a 106-84 win over the visiting Nets. Feb. 1 vs. Utah -- Scored 42 points while adding four assists, three rebounds and three steals as the Lakers defeated the visiting Jazz 99-87.

Other candidates for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Glenn Robinson, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Houston’s Yao Ming, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, New Jersey’s Kenyon Martin, Phoenix’s Stephon Marbury and Washington’s Michael Jordan.
