NEW YORK, March 4 – Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson Portland Trail Blazer forward Rasheed Wallace today were named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, February 25 through Sunday, March 3.

Iverson led the 76ers to a 3-1 record while netting two back-to-back 40-plus point games while averaging 33.5 points, 5.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.00 steals per game. Wallace led the Trail Blazers to a 4-0 record, all four victories coming on the road, while averaging 23.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.75 blocks per game. Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers

  • Monday vs. Portland: Had 18 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals in a 88-83 loss to the Trail Blazers.
  • Wednesday vs. Miami: Recorded 31 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 82-72 win over the visiting Heat.
  • Friday vs. New Jersey: Had 43 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block in a 110-102 win over the visiting Nets.
  • Sunday at Toronto: Recorded second consecutive 40+ scoring game with 42 points while adding five assists, four rebounds and five steals in a 96-84 win at Toronto.

    Rasheed Wallace, Portland Trail Blazers

  • Monday at Philadelphia: Had 29 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in a 88-83 win over the 76ers.
  • Wednesday at Washington: Recorded 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 105-101 win over the Wizards.
  • Friday at Toronto: Had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in a 91-81 win over the Raptors.
  • Sunday at Milwaukee: Had 24 points and eight rebounds as the Trail Blazers extended their wining streak to nine games.

    Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Week were Charlotte’s Jamal Mashburn, Detroit’s Clifford Robinson and Corliss Williamson and Miami’s Eddie Jones.

    Western Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Week were L.A. Clippers Elton Brand, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Stephon Marbury and San Antonio’s Tim Duncan.
