NEW YORK, April 1 –
Orlando’s Tracy McGrady
and Los Angeles Lakers’ Shaquille O’Neal
today were named Western Conference and Eastern Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played for the month of March.
McGrady averaged 36.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists while leading the Magic to a 10-5 record for the month.
O’Neal averaged 31.6 points and 2.88 blocks while grabbing 11.0 rebounds per game in leading the Lakers to an 11-5 record for the month.

Tracy McGrady, Orlando MagicMarch 5 vs. Milwaukee: Had a game-high 48 points while adding 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 111-99 win over the Bucks.
March 26 at New Orleans: Recorded 41 points, seven rebounds, six assists in a 97-95 win over the Hornets.
March 31 vs. Philadelphia: Had 39 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and three steals as the Magic were defeated in overtime by the 76ers 118-113.
Led or tied the team in scoring in all 15 games, in rebounding four times and in assists 12 times.
Shaquille O’Neal, Los Angeles LakersMarch 7 vs. Minnesota: Had 40 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks in a 106-96 win over the visiting Timberwolves.
March 9 vs. Philadelphia: Recorded 39 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 106-92 win over the 76ers.
March 21 vs. Boston: Scored 48 points while adding 20 rebounds in a 104-96 win over the Celtics.
March 23 at San Antonio: Had 32 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks as the Spurs defeated the visiting Lakers 98-89.
