NEW YORK, March 3 --
The New Orleans Hornets’ Jamal Mashburn
and Kevin Garnett
of the Minnesota Timberwolves today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of February.
Mashburn averaged 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists in leading the Hornets to a 9-4 record for the month.
Garnett averaged 27.7 points, 13.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.5 blocks in leading the Timberwolves to an NBA-best 12-1 record for February.

Jamal Mashburn, New OrleansFebruary 1 at Washington: Had 39 points, eight rebounds and five assists in five-point loss to the Wizards.
February 21 vs. Memphis: Recorded a career-high 50 points, including the game-winner with 1.0 seconds remaining, as well as five rebounds and five assists in two-point victory over the Grizzlies.
February 22 at Detroit: Had 29 points, including the game-winner with 0.6 seconds remaining, to go along with 10 assists and five rebounds in two-point road victory over the Pistons.
February 26 vs. Miami: Recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists in victory over the Heat.
February 28 at Denver: Had 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in victory over the Nuggets.
Kevin Garnett, Minnesota TimberwolvesFebruary 2 vs. Philadelphia: Had 30 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in eight-point victory over the Sixers.
February 16 vs. Golden State: Tallied 37 points, 22 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and one steal in seven-point victory over the Warriors.
February 21 vs. Detroit: Collected 34 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and two steals in victory over the Pistons.
February 22 vs. Phoenix: Had 24 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in victory over the Suns.
February 24 at Milwaukee: Recorded 34 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and two steals in three-point road victory over the Bucks.
