NEW YORK, April 21 – The Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson and the Phoenix Suns’ Amaré Stoudemire today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of April.


For the month, Iverson led the league in scoring, averaging 32.8 points on .473 shooting and ranked fifth overall in assists with 9.1 apg. He added 4.2 rebounds and 41.0 minutes per game and had four points-assists double-doubles for the month. He also is the league-leader in steals, with 2.7 steals per game.

Stoudemire ranks second in scoring in the Western Conference and fifth overall with 25.9 points on .546 shooting. He averaged 10.7 rebounds per game and added 2.3 assists per game. With eight free-throws made in his final regular season game at Sacramento, Stoudemire surpassed former Suns’ player Connie Hawkins record for 577 free throws made in a single season totaling 583.

April 6 vs. Charlotte: Scored 48 points and added eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals in a 106-103 win over the Bobcats.
April 14 vs. Miami: Recorded 38 points, 16 assists, six rebounds, three steals in a 126-119 win over the Heat.
April 15 at Indiana: Tallied 43 points, seven assists, four rebounds and one steal in a 90-86 victory over the Pacers.

Amaré Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns
April 8 at Golden State: Scored 44 points and added 16 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal in a 127-119 loss to the Warriors.
April 15 vs. LA Clippers: Tallied 24 points, 17 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist in a 98-91 win over the Clippers.
April 20 at Sacramento: Recorded 30 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in a 132-107 loss to the Kings.
