NEW YORK, April 1 –The Miami HEAT’s Shaquille O’Neal and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Garnett today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of March.

O’Neal helped the HEAT to a 12-3 record, averaging 23.5 points on .591 shooting, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 blocks. He led his team in rebounds and blocks and placed second in scoring. He ranks second in the league and first in the Eastern Conference in field goal percentage and he recorded eight double-doubles for the month.

Garnett led his team to a 10-5 record, their best month of the season. He is the league leader in double-doubles (14-of-15 for the month) and in rebounds (13.7 rpg). He averaged 23.5 points on .502 shooting and added 5.4 assists per game. He scored 30 or more points in three games and helped the team close the month on a five-game winning streak.

March 10 vs. Minnesota: Tallied 33 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal in a 107-90 victory over the Timberwolves.
March 17 vs. LA Lakers: Scored 25 points and added 12 rebounds, four blocks, two assists and one steal in a 102-89 win over the Lakers.
March 19 vs. New York: Recorded 33 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks in a 97-82 win over the Knicks.
March 26 at Charlotte: Scored 26 points and added 16 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and one steal in a 94-92 loss to the Bobcats.

March 6 at Boston: Matched his season-high nine assists, scored 21 points and added 13 rebounds and two steals with a 99-97 win over the Celtics.
March 11 at Orlando: Recorded 25 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and one steal in a 101-96 win over the Magic.
March 18 at Memphis: Tallied 30 points, 19 rebounds, six assists and two blocks in an 88-83 loss to the Grizzlies.
March 20 vs. Houston: Scored 30 points and had 17 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and one steal in a 94-86 victory over the Rockets.
