1. Thomas And Big Three Drive Wizards To Victory
In the WASHINGTON POST, Michael Wilbon writes that for “the Wizards, it became clear in two losses in Chicago, they needed
more than their Big Three of Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes and Antawn Jamison to make this series competitive. So yesterday's
surprise visit from Etan Thomas couldn't have come at a better time for Washington.” Thomas’ “20 points and nine rebounds,
considering he averages only seven and five, were largely responsible for putting the Wizards over the hump in the their
first playoff win of this series, their first at MCI Center and the franchise's first since May 4, 1988.” The series
resumes on Monday with Game 5 at 7:30 ET on NBA TV.
2. Finley Leads Way, And Mavs Follow
In the DALLAS MORNING NEWS, Calvin Watkins writes that “the leadership ability of Michael Finley has shown through the last
two games.” The Mavs’ small forward “has urged his team to remain positive during timeouts late in the fourth quarter. With
five minutes left Saturday at the Toyota Center, he told his teammates that a six-point deficit wasn't hard to erase.”
His teammates believed his words, “and he backed them up, too. He scored four points in the quarter, eight in the second
half and finished with 18 in helping the Mavs beat the Rockets, 97-93, in Game 4 and even the series, 2-2.”
