NEW YORK, April 17 -- Four new players and four new teams entered the NBA’s top 10 list of the most popular player and team merchandise sold during the course of the 2001-02 season. The Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards joined the NBA’s elite teams in terms of merchandise sales. Michael Jordan returned to the top ten player’s list along with newcomers to the list Tracy McGrady, Lamar Odom and Darius Miles.

The popularity of NBA merchandise increased greatly over the past year with twice as many NBA jerseys sold this season over last and NBA merchandise sales increasing a projected 35% overall.

The top 10 player and team lists are determined by sales reports on player and team-identified merchandise provided by the league’s licensees and sales information from the NBA Store on and the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City dating back to October 1, 2001.
