MEMPHIS, December 27, 2007 -- The Memphis Grizzlies will be hosting the Sixth Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Game and Celebration on January 21 when they host the Chicago Bulls, and will honor NBA legend Bob Lanier for his contributions to civil and human rights. The celebration is presented by the Memphis Grizzlies, National Civil Rights Museum, City of Memphis and Shelby County.
Lanier is this year’s recipients of the National Civil Rights Museum Sports Legacy Award in the international category. The award pays tribute to athletes who have made significant contributions to civil and human rights and who have laid the foundation for future leaders through their careers in sports in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

NBA Presents Live Games and Programming to Fans in Europe
NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2008 -- The NBA and its partners will give fans in Europe the opportunity to watch live games in prime time as part of the league’s celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Fans in France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and Turkey will be able to enjoy up to 15 consecutive hours of NBA programming, 13 live games and special tributes honoring Dr. King that will be integrated into game broadcasts.
As part of the comprehensive coverage, reigning NBA MVP Dirk Nowitzki and Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng pre-recorded segments to present their team’s live games -- Dallas vs. Washington on Premiere Sport in Germany (7 p.m.); and Chicago vs. Memphis on Five US in the United Kingdom (11 p.m.). In a segment called “Frag Dirk” (Ask Dirk), Nowitzki will answer questions posted by fans in online videos through a promotion with Premiere.
