NEW YORK, March 1, 2007 -- The Detroit Pistons’ Flip Saunders and the Dallas Mavericks’ Avery Johnson today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month for February.

Saunders guided the Pistons to a 10-1 (.909) record last month, the franchise’s best February since going 10-1 in 1990. Johnson led the Mavericks to an undefeated month (10-0) and with a 110-87 win over Atlanta on Feb. 26, Dallas became the first team in NBA history to post three winning streaks of 12 or more games in a single season with runs of 12 (Nov. 9 – Dec. 1), 13 (Dec. 13 – Jan. 5) and a current winning streak of 13 games.

Other nominees for the Coach of the Month award were New Orleans/Oklahoma City’s Byron Scott, New York’s Isiah Thomas, Toronto’s Sam Mitchell and Utah’s Jerry Sloan.
