Final: USA 157, World 154

TORONTO -- Andrew Wiggins last year, Zach LaVine this year. The Timberwolves both years.

The promising rebuilding movement in Minnesota, showing signs of obvious progress in the actual season, now includes back-to-back MVPs in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge after LaVine contributed 30 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the US beat the World 157-154 in Air Canada Centre.

That also comes after LaVine won the slam dunk title in 2015 in New York and goes for the win in the same event here Saturday, with the chance to put an additional Timberwolves imprint on the weekend.

Wiggins, playing in his hometown for the World team, scored 29 points in the game that matched the best rookies and second-year players. Emmanuel Mudiay had 30 points and 10 assists while Kristaps Porzingis of the Knicks also scored 30, both for the World.
