BROOKLYN NETS AND BARCLAYS CENTER
Petra Pope is an innovator in the specialized discipline of entertainment, special events and community relations for the sports industry. Pope, in her ninth year with the Brooklyn Nets, has played a major role in bringing the Nets brand to life with dance teams, music, video production, costumes, lighting, and halftime entertainment.
Pope played a major role in the Nets first season at Barclays Center, overseeing events at the venue that welcome up to 19,000 guests a day. Pope oversees all Brooklyn Nets special events for season tickets holders, NBA draft night, and charitable events; as well as all third party events at Barclays Center.
Additionally, Pope oversees the community relations departments for both the team and arena, including the Brooklyn Nets Assist program which stands to support four key pillars: Education, Athletics, Health & Wellness, and Community Development. Pope assisted in the launch of the Brooklyn Nets brand by leading the first-ever Brooklyn Nets Community Week, which touched more than 5,000 children and adults in five days.
Pope was the manager of the Los Angeles Lakers Girls from 1983-1989. She launched the Knicks City Dancers in 1991 and spent 14 years with the Knicks prior to joining the Nets in 2005. While with the Knicks Pope produced the first NBA merchandise fashion show and created the first revenue generating Dance Camp in the NBA.
Pope was born in Niederweisel, Germany, speaks fluent German and is a black belt in Karate.
