Saturday mornings in New York City are often prime time for brunch, and this weekend Brooklyn Nets fans feasted on merchandise sold out of the Nets Shop by adidas at Barclays Center. The day after the new arena opened with the first of eight sold-out shows by Shawn “JAY Z” Carter -- who took the stage wearing a customized version of the previously unrevealed team jerseys – a full crew took transactions from the moment the store opened at 10 a.m.
The man who once rejected his jerseys to button up has redefined "fresh to death" with the NBA's newest uniforms. Brooklyn Nets investor and cultural icon Shawn "JAY Z" Carter proved instrumental in securing black and white as team colors, and nowhere are the stark contrasts of the timeless two-tone palette more evident than on the team jerseys.
One life to live, I can't let a day go
By without me being fly, fresh to death
Head to toe 'til the day I rest
And I don't wear jerseys, I'm 30-plus
Give me a crisp pair of jeans, and button up
