Summer League: Nets vs. Pistons (July 7)
ORLANDO, Fla.—The Brooklyn Nets opened the 2013 Orlando Pro Summer League on Sunday with a game against the Pistons at Amway Center. The 76-67 defeat marked the debut of Jason Kidd as head coach and Mason Plumlee as an NBA rookie.
"I just enjoyed teaching, that aspect of the game," Kidd said. "I'm just trying to put guys in a position to be successful."
Plumlee posted 10 points (3-5 FGs) and 14 rebounds in his pro debut, notably throwing down a highlight-reel dunk over fellow rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The Nets' first-year player was joined in the starting lineup by Tyshawn Taylor, Matt Janning, Jamelle Hagins and Toko Shengelia. Taylor led Brooklyn with 17 points on 6-of-18 shooting; Damion James added 14 points (7-11 FGs) off the bench.
