East Rutherford, N.J., July 12 - The New Jersey Nets have signed their two First Round draft picks from the 2006 NBA Draft, guard Marcus Williams and forward Josh Boone, to multi-year contracts, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not released.

‘We are pleased to add both Marcus and Josh to our roster,” said Thorn. “Both players come from a high quality, winning collegiate program and we believe that the addition of these two players enhances the depth of our team in both the backcourt and the frontcourt.”

Williams, a 6-3 guard out of UConn, was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He appeared in 70 games over three years for Connecticut, averaging 9.0 points and 7.3 assists, the highest all-time assist average in school history. An All- Big East Second Team selection last year, Williams appeared in 23 games, averaging 12.3 points and 8.6 assists, tops in the league.

Boone, a 6-10 forward also out of UConn, was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He played in 103 games during his collegiate career, averaging 9.3 points and 7.0 rebounds. Boone was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, when he earned a spot on the All-Big East Second Team. Last year, Boone averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 34 games, garnering an All-Big East Honorable Mention.
