April 17, 2012
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—Three standout college students will be awarded $35,000 in total scholarships at the NETS vs. Knicks game tomorrow, Wednesday, April 18. The Nets Foundation Appreciation Scholarship was created to recognize the NETS' 35-year history in New Jersey.
The talented scholarship winners are Walter Fortson, a New Brunswick resident attending Rutgers University, and Lee-Anna John of Hackensack and Tiffanie Serritella of Butler, who are both students at Ramapo College of New Jersey. All three winners will deliver the game ball tomorrow prior to tip-off and participate in an on-court ceremony.
In January, New Jersey college students were asked to submit a portfolio that included an essay on their future aspirations, academic achievements, and their volunteer work in the community.
