BROOKLYN—Before Friday's 106-96 loss to the Rockets at Barclays Center, Brooklyn Nets General Manager Billy King revealed that guard Joe Johnson would miss the evening contest with plantar fasciits and a sore left heel. That caused coach P.J. Carlesimo to shift backup point guard C.J. Watson into the starting lineup alongside Deron Williams, giving the Nets a smaller look against Houston's explosive backcourt of Jeremy Lin and James Harden.
King said that Johnson's heel began to bother him during the second of this week's two games against Milwaukee and that "most likely" he'll be able to play Sunday against the Grizzlies. It's the type of injury that's best served by rest, much like the ankle inflammation Williams has been dealing with all season.
Williams told media this morning that he felt "good" after receiving a cortisone shot in each ankle, following platlet-rich plasma therapy just before All-Star Weekend. He said they were the third cortisone shots in each ankle this season, with prior injections before the season and in late December:
