The Nets gave their interim coach a victory in his debut and the Charlotte Bobcats a 17th straight loss, getting 26 points and 11 rebounds from Brook Lopez in a 97-81 rout Friday night.

P.J. Carlesimo
"We weren’t playing with a lot of confidence. You make shots, you feel better. Confidence is based on prior success. You can’t be confident unless you’ve done something well in the past or you’re doing well right now. I don’t care who it is.

"The best golfers in the world, they miss a couple putts, they’re basket cases. They’re the best guys in the world, they do it all the time, they miss a couple of three-footers and it’s like, ‘Whoa!’ it’s hard to be confident when you’re not enjoying success. You have to play your way out of it, shoot your way out of it, and I thought we did that tonight."
