Joe Johnson Selected to Participate in Foot Locker Three-Point Contest
BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Johnson has been selected to participate in the 2014 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, the NBA announced tonight. Johnson, who will be participating in his seventh All-Star Game, will be making his first appearance in the three-point contest.
The 13-year pro from Arkansas is shooting .389 (86-221) from behind the arc this season. Johnson made an NBA-season-high-tying 10 three-pointers Dec. 16 vs. Philadelphia and his 10 threes rank second on the Nets’ all-time single-game three-point field goals made list. Johnson is also one of two players this season to make eight or more three-pointers in a game on multiple occasions (Stephen Curry). Johnson is tied for ninth in Nets’ history in made three-pointers (234) and 11th among active NBA players (1,515).
Johnson will be the third Nets’ player to participate in the three-point contest, joining Anthony Morrow (2012) and Drazen Petrovic (1992).
The complete Foot Locker field includes reigning champion Kyrie Irving (CLE), Arron Afflalo (ORL), Bradley Beal (WAS), Marco Belinelli (SAS), Stephen Curry (GSW), Damian Lillard (POR) and Kevin Love (MIN). The three-point contest will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
