






SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER OF ARENA OPERATIONS
Alex Diaz joined the Nets in February, 2006 as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Arena Operations. Diaz, 34, is serving initially as the Nets’ liaison with the team’s current home, the Continental Airlines Arena, and the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority (NJSEA), which runs the facility.
Diaz will oversee the operations of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which is scheduled to open for the start of the 2009-10 Nets season. His responsibilities will include operations, engineering, scheduling, booking, marketing, food and beverage, security, housekeeping, event coordination/services and parking. Until then, Diaz is involved in several aspects of the development of the Brooklyn Arena, including the creation of the standard operating procedures.
Diaz came to the Nets after a rising career with the Miami Heat, in which he spent three years as General Manager of the AmericanAirlines Arena, while also serving his final two years as Senior Vice President.
Some of Diaz’ specific accomplishments included supervising the AmericanAirlines Arena’s hosting of the Latin Grammy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
A native of West Palm Beach, Diaz earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from the University of Florida, then went on to earn a master’s degree in sports management from UF.
Diaz currently resides in Mahwah, New Jersey with his wife, Elizabeth.
