East Rutherford, NJ – Sly, the NETS Basketball mascot, will appear in a Taco Bell® television commercial to debut on CBS during its broadcast of football’s biggest game tonight.
The 30-second commercial, titled “It Rocks,” features Basketball Hall of Famer and Emmy Award-winning commentator Charles Barkley, with a special appearance from Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom.
In his national commercial debut, Sly, who turns 13 years old next month, is seen interacting with Barkley, who is in the midst of a musical rhyme that describes the new NBA Five Buck Box by Taco Bell®. The box includes five Taco Bell All-Star menu items in special NBA-themed packaging, which includes images of some of the league’s biggest stars. Taco Bell® is the Official Quick Service Restaurant of the NBA.
“Sly is very excited about making his national commercial debut, which will be seen by close to 100 million people during the biggest football game of the year,” said NETS CEO Brett Yormark. “Since Sly has been entertaining fans at NETS games for so many years, we are thrilled that Taco Bell® has recognized him for his star power.”
