NOVEMBER 3, 2001 vs CHARLOTTE: The Nets returned home from their two game road trip and defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 95-85... Keith Van Horn had his second straight big game at home as he scored a season-high 28 points to pace the Nets... He connected on 9-20 (45%) from the floor, including 5-8 (62.5%) from downtown... The Nets took an 18-17 lead with 3:13 remaining in the first quarter on a Kerry Kittles lay-up, and never looked back... Kittles finished with 16 points, while Kenyon Martin scored a season-high 16 points with eight rebounds and three blocks... Martin scored 10 of his 18 points in the first quarter... The Hornets were led by Elden Campbell, who finished the contest with 26 points and 10 rebounds... Campbell was a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line... Charlotte cut the Nets lead to 52-50 early in the third quarter on a 17' Jamal Mashburn jumper, but a 14-4 Nets run helped New Jersey increase their lead... Keith Van Horn scored 16 of his points in the second half and hit a big three-pointer with 2:19 remaining in the game to seal the win... The Nets pushed the ball continuously all night as they outscored the Hornets 31-9 in fast-break points... They also turned the ball over less, as they had 12 turnovers, compared to 20 for Charlotte.

JANUARY 5, 2002 at CHARLOTTE: Rookies Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins filled in nicely for Kenyon Martin and Keith Van Horn as they helped the Nets defeat the Charlotte Hornets 89-80 at the Charlotte Coliseum… Collins made his first career NBA start and finished the contest with career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (12), while Jefferson, who was making his second career start, added 16 points and seven rebounds… The Nets have now defeated the Hornets in both meetings this season… The first half was a tight contest as Charlotte took a 40-33 lead into halftime…The Nets responded early in the third quarter as they went on a 21-5 burst to start the quarter… Charlotte never responded from that run as the Nets went on for the nine point victory… Elden Campbell and Baron Davis each played well for the Hornets as Campbell scored 26 points with 13 rebound, while Davis contributed with 22 points and seven assists.

FEBRUARY 24, 2002 vs CHARLOTTE: The Nets overcame a 23-point deficit as they defeated the Charlotte Hornets 95-93 at the Continental Airlines Arena… With the win, the Nets have won all three meetings with the Hornets this season, as they have a three-game winning streak vs. Charlotte for the first time since the 1995-96 season… The Hornets jumped all over the Nets early, as they shot (60.0%) from the field in the first quarter… Charlotte took a 28-18 lead into the second quarter… The second quarter was pretty much the same story, as the Hornets led by 20 points as George Lynch hit a 17’ jumper with 3:14 remaining in the first half… By the end of the half, Charlotte had built a 59-41 advantage… The Nets, however, played a much stronger second half, as they cut into the Hornets lead… Jason Kidd scored 15 of his team-high 21 points in the half, leading a furious Nets comeback… New Jersey got within 12 points by the end of the third quarter and kept the momentum going into the fourth… They opened up the quarter on a 21-3 run, as the Nets took their first lead since midway through the first quarter… The rest of the quarter went back and forth, as neither team could pull away… The Nets took the lead for good as Lucious Harris converted a lay-up on a pass from Richard Jefferson with 51.8 seconds remaining… The Hornets had a chance to win but Baron Davis missed a three-pointer as time expired.

FEBRUARY 27, 2002 at CHARLOTTE: The Hornets avenged last Sunday’s 23-point collapse and defeated the Nets 104-85 at the Charlotte Coliseum… Paced by Jamal Mashburn’s 19 first quarter points, Charlotte jumped on the Nets early and never let go… Mashburn finished the contest with a game-high 36 points, as Charlotte beat New Jersey for the first time this season… Despite the loss, the Nets took the season series from the Hornets for the first time since the 1995-96 season… The Hornets outscored the Nets 27-18 after the first quarter… New Jersey tried to play catch-up during the rest of the contest, as Jason Kidd and Aaron Williams each finished with 12 points… The Hornets kept things going in the second quarter, as Mashburn hit a 19’ jumper with 4:50 remaining to make the score 49-22… The Nets, however, ended the quarter on an 11-2 run to make the score 53-35 at the half… The Nets kept the momentum going early in the fourth, starting the quarter with a quick 7-0 run… That was as close as the Nets would get the rest of the way… Charlotte never let the Nets to get that close again, as they went up by 20 points again to end the frame… Jamaal Magloire played well off the bench for the Hornets, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots…. The Hornets outrebounded the Nets 45-36.
