Nets Announce Preseason Schedule

East Rutherford, NJ - The New Jersey Nets will open up their 2002-03 campaign with a seven-game preseason schedule that includes three home games at the Continental Airlines Arena, it was announced today by Nets President/General Manager Rod Thorn.

“ We are pleased to present three home preseason games,” said Thorn. “ It will give our fans an early look at our team as we prepare to defend our Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference titles.”

The Phoenix Suns will commence the New Jersey portion of the 2002 home preseason slate when they venture to the CAA on Friday, October 11. Nets fans will then get to witness a rematch of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals when the Boston Celtics tangle with New Jersey on Tuesday, October 15. The CAA slice of the preseason schedule concludes on Friday, October 25 when the Nets entertain their cross-river rivals, the New York Knicks. All three games will begin at 7:30 pm.

The Nets begin their preseason play on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York. Following the two home games against Phoenix and Boston, the Nets play three consecutive games on the road, beginning with the second half of a home and home with the Celtics. This second contest with their Eastern Conference rivals will take place on Thursday, October 17 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. Game time for the games in Albany and New Hampshire is 7:30 pm.

The Nets will travel from New Hampshire to Toronto to take on the Raptors on Friday, October 18 at the Air Canada Centre, and then complete their three-game road swing on Tuesday, October 22 against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey. Game time for the games in Toronto and Trenton is 7:00 pm.

The Nets will open their 2002-03 regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 30 when they entertain the Atlanta Hawks at the Continental Airlines Arena.
