Jaclyn Sabol

East Rutherford, N.J. — You might know her as the “Jac of All Nets,” or the coach of the NETSational Senior Dancers, or a model in the Capezio catalog, or “that girl” in several commercials or … well, you get the point. However you’re familiar with Nets Dancer Jaclyn, it’s safe to say she’s exploring the opportunities afforded her.

The Pomona, N.Y. native, now in her fourth year with the team, is a Rutgers graduate with a degree in broadcast journalism. Jaclyn recently took time out of her crowded schedule – 16-hour workdays! – for an exclusive interview with NJNets.com.

NJNets.com: Now we’ve got a couple questions based off of your bio on the Nets Dancers Web site. With three words to describe yourself, you picked “kind,” “humorous” and “reflective.” Does that mean if we give you a moment to reflect, you can come up with a witty compliment?

Jaclyn: [Coyly] About who?

NJNets.com: Anybody in general, ha.

Jaclyn: Well, here’s the thing, and I think my teammates can attest to this: I don’t throw compliments around, so when I do compliment you, you’ll know that I mean it. There will be no question in your mind that I’m very sincere.

NJNets.com: Now it says you’ve also got some acting experience, including One Life to Live.

Jaclyn: Yes, that was recently. I filmed one episode on Halloween, back in October. That was my first time on a soap opera, which was a very different experience. It was a whole new world, but it was fun. I’d do it again.

NJNets.com: You know that makes us rivals, because my dad was on All My Children back in the day.

Jaclyn: Was he really? That’s so cool. I might do a ‘Jac of All Nets’ on him! [Laughs]

NJNets.com: Only 12 episodes though – they replaced him with another actor for the same part because he didn’t look ‘evil’ enough.

Jaclyn: Aw, I hate when they do that! See, he was too kind and reflective.

NJNets.com: Good traits to have, except when you’re acting, evidently. Ha. Now you’ve done a couple of commercials …

Jaclyn: Yeah! I did a commercial for Panasonic, which was a really cool experience. They flew me up to Quebec, actually, and I stayed up there for a week. It was a commercial, but also a 30-minute film that Panasonic used to market a lot of its products. That was a great time. I got to run around Quebec and I had a film crew following me. They took really good care of their people, so I had this guy following me around with an umbrella because he didn’t want me to get tanned. It was a very, very cool, very surreal experience. I enjoyed it.

NJNets.com: There’s also been some modeling, with Capezio.

Jaclyn: That was actually this year. If you look in the Capezio catalog, you’ll see me in there, modeling all the Capezio attire. They gave me some free stuff, they did, I can’t complain. They took good care of me. [Laughs]

NJNets.com: Is it stuff you'll be caught wearing in public?

Jaclyn: You’ll probably see me on the court, during court rehearsal, wearing it. It’s all dance stuff: baggy pants, sports bras, and stuff like that.

NJNets.com: One last one: It says you’ve done some backup dancing for Britney Spears. Should I even go there?

Jaclyn: Let’s just say she was very different back when I danced with her. I was in college at the time, and did a few shows for her for MTV in New York. It was pre- all of the drama, so we’re talking seven years ago. It was just fun; it was good time. It was very teenybopper and cute: they put me in pigtails, that whole vibe. We got to recap a lot of her videos, so I got to wear some of her costumes that she wore in her videos. It was a great experience and she was very nice.
