EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—NETS Basketball has been selected to play in NBA China Games 2010, in which it will participate in two preseason games against Chinese icon Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets in Beijing and Guangzhou this October.
The NETS and Rockets will tip off on October 13 in Beijing at the 17,012-seat Wukesong Arena, and will meet again on October 16 at the new 18,025-seat Guangzhou International Sport and Entertainment Center. This will be the third consecutive year the NBA will play a game at the state-of-the-art Wukesong Arena, home to the basketball competition during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“We are thrilled to be playing in NBA China Games 2010 as we continue to position ourselves on a global stage,” said NETS CEO Brett Yormark. “From a business standpoint, we have spent a lot of time in China over the past two years creating important strategic alliances. Bringing our team to play in China against Yao Ming and the Rockets is a major step in the continued global evolution of our franchise.”
“It is an honor for the NETS to be one of the teams representing the NBA at this year's China Games," said NETS General Manager Billy King. "These two contests against the Rockets should bring great enjoyment to our NBA fans in China, and these venues will add a vitality to the preseason that will be very beneficial to both our players and coaching staff."
