Brook Lopez Selected to Play in 2010 |

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez, last year’s third place finisher in Rookie of the Year voting, has been selected to play in the 2010 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam on Friday, February 12 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Lopez, a 7-0 product out of Stanford, will join Chicago’s Derrick Rose, Los Angeles Clippers’ Eric Gordon, Memphis’ sophomore tandem of O.J. Mayo and Marc Gasol, Miami’s Michael Beasley, Minnesota’s Kevin Love, New York’s Danilo Gallinari and Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook and on the sophomore squad. Lopez becomes the first Net to play in the game as both a rookie and a sophomore since Kenyon Martin in 2001 and 2002. The California native is averaging team-highs with 19.0 points and 9.4 rebounds to go along with 1.98 blocks in 43 starts. He is the only Net to start in all 43 games this season. Lopez is currently ranked 9th in the NBA in blocks per game with 1.98 and is tied for 9th with 21 double-doubles. Lopez leads the Nets with two 30+ point games, 21 20+ point games and 21 10+ rebound games. He has also led the Nets in scoring 18 times, in rebounds 27 times and in blocks 29 times. Lopez currently ranks in the Top 10 in six sophomore statistical categories including 2nd in scoring at 19.0, 2nd in blocks at 1.98, 3rd in rebounding at 9.4, 10th in free throw percentage at .838, 10th in assists at 2.2 and 3rd in minutes at 36.2 minutes per game.
